Welcome back to our SK parents and Welcome to our new parents. We are thrilled to be your child's teachers and we are looking forward to an exciting and magical year full of wonder and learning. The children have been busy exploring our classroom and getting to know our new friends.
We'd like to take this opportunity to invite you to our "Meet the Teacher" night on September 24th, from 4:30-6p.m. Drop by and say "Hi" and take a look around our classroom. Please always know should you have any questions or concerns, never hesitate to write us a note in the communication book or by calling the school (613-831-8844) We look forward to seeing you on the 24th. Have a blessed weekend! Mrs.Cusano Miss.Hodgins To our dear parents,
We cannot believe this will be our last week as a class. This year has flown by... We have learnt so much and have had so much fun. We want to take this opportunity to THANK YOU all for the honor and privilege of being your child's teacher. We have grown to love them all and will miss our senior kindergarten students in September when they graduate to grade 1 (luckily our classroom isn't too far away from Gr. 1 :) ) We wish you all a relaxing, fun filled summer. May it be a time of reenergizing and relaxation. Thank you for your continued support throughout the year. Here is a quick breakdown of our final few days together. Monday, June 22nd: Outdoor Play day. We will be spending over an hour outside enjoying a number of fun play centers. Please make sure your child comes with a hat, water bottle and sunscreen which should be applied at home. Wednesday, June 24th: Report cards go home. Please keep your eye out for it in your child's mailbag. Thursday, June 25th: LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!! :( Bonnes Vacances! Have a BLESSED summer break! Mrs. Cusano, Mrs. Mac, Miss Hodgins. Thank you so much to all parents who were able to volunteer for our field trip last week. The children had so much fun! They keep asking if they can go back!!! Here are some pictures for you to enjoy.
We cannot believe that we have 13 school days left !! ( but who's counting :) ) This year has flown by! What tremendous growth and learning we've had the pleasure of witnessing. As the year comes to a close, we wanted to thank you once more for all your support, help and cooperation. Have a blessed week! On Wednesday, we released 3 of our butterflies ( we needed to hang onto the rest for a few more days so they could be on display during the Kindergarten Program night taking place Thursday). We began by collecting dandelions (butterflies love them!), then we went to the butterfly garden in front of the school and read the butterfly poem (a copy was sent home with each child). We discussed that by sharing our wishes with butterflies, they are able to take them to heaven and tell God. As you can see in some of the pictures and the videos, butterflies use a straw like thing to eat. When we went back inside, we decided to research what this is called and we discovered that it is called the "proboscis". Check out our 2 short videos by clicking on the following links. These videos are in real time and have not been sped up. It looks like this butterfly sure was hungry!!!

It has been such a busy week!! We have been writing wonderful stories in our journals, observing the changes happening with our caterpillars and getting excited for our field trip. Thank you/Merci to all parents who sent back the form and who agreed to volunteer. Further details will be communicated next week.
Lastly, we are looking to collect some blank DVDs for a "special" surprise. Should you have any at home that are not being used, we would really appreciate it if you could send them in with your child. Thank you/Merci in advance. Have a blessed weekend. All of our caterpillars, except one, have created a chrysalis. We are very excited to see what will happen next.
Did you know... "While pupa can refer to this naked stage in either a butterfly or moth, chrysalis is strictly used for the butterfly pupa. A cocoon is the silk casing that a moth caterpillar spins around it before it turns into a pupa." (https://goo.gl/bsoUcs) Pajama Day Friday, May 15th, 2015!!!!!
